Letter 27.IV 14

Letter to the Editor of the FT (27.IV 14)

From DSc(Econ) Ülo Ennuste.

Sir, Mr Franc McCallum, in “The markets don’t hate uncertainty – they depend on it” (Letter April 25) makes a most agreeable statement from the fundamental risk-theoretic point of view: “Uncertainty is the reason for their (markets) existence.”

I would only like to add that this may be actually true in the conditions of global context of Ukrainian Crisis – especially for all kind of insurances companies. E.g.: in the fallouts of this Crisis in Estonia a certain renowned effective insurance company started already aggressively selling brand-new type of contracts including all kinds of underground constructions – and with very high price too :=).
